Bio

Since arriving at Boise State in 2015, Dr. Jenn Mallette has taught a wide range of technical communication and writing courses. In addition, she collaborates with engineering educators to teach engineering students and conduct research on engineering communication. She currently works with students in materials science and has designed (and frequently teaches) a 1-credit writing course for electrical engineering. Her research focuses on women’s experiences in engineering settings through their writing as well as writing in engineering teams. Lately, she has been exploring how generative AI can augment technical editing, incorporating it into WRITE 403 (Editing for Clear Communication) and publishing on this topic. She delights in baking gluten-free treats and believes in the magic of sharing food to connect (and has even taught a course on food & writing!).
