Job Opportunity: Social Media & Content Strategy Intern, Department of Writing Studies
Hourly Rate: $12/hour + Internship Credit (1-3 Credits)

The Department of Writing Studies is seeking a motivated and creative student intern to join our team! This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in social media strategy, content creation, and digital communication—all while earning internship credit.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a social media strategy aligned with the department’s content strategy and goals.
- Create and manage a detailed social media calendar to maintain a consistent and engaging online presence.
- Design and produce social media content (posts, graphics, videos, etc.) tailored to specific platforms and audiences.
- Collaborate with team members to craft compelling web content that aligns with the department’s mission and brand voice.
- Monitor and analyze engagement metrics to refine strategies and ensure effectiveness.
Minimum Qualifications
The position requires the following qualifications:
- Currently engaged in a program of study in the Department of Writing Studies
- BA in English Teaching, Professional and Public Writing, or Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication
- Minor in Writing and Leadership
- Certificate in Social Media Creator or Technical Communication
- Strong writing and communication skills, with an eye for detail
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Experience with digital content creation
- Creative and proactive, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will also possess the following skills and experiences:
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of style guides
