Manuel Gómez-Navarro, a member of the adjunct faculty in the Spanish language program was named Adjunct Faculty of the Year. This award honors adjunct faculty members who demonstrate excellence in teaching, particularly by using evidence based instructional practices and student engagement techniques to support student success. The award winner is selected by their peers, and the selection subcommittee receives supporting input from the nominees’ colleagues and students in testament to their work as educators.
Peer nominators noted Gómez-Navarro’s focus on student experience as the core of learning and the positive ways he made education in the Spanish language accessible for Boise State students, including developing an open educational resources textbook to significantly reduce costs.
A number of students also wrote in support of Gómez-Navarro’s nomination.
“Professor Gómez is one of my favorite instructors I’ve ever had at Boise State,” one student said. “He is incredibly understanding and caring and truly wants to see his students succeed.”
