Outreach Request

Our goal is to provide preventative health education, advocacy, and resources to empower the Boise State students to prioritize well-being. To achieve this, we are offering programming in each of the topics below

Topic Options:

General Wellness Services

Inform students about the presence of Wellness Services on campus and promote the events and programming that Wellness Services offers.

  • Wellness Services, under Student Affairs and University Health Services, aims to integrate health and well-being into the Boise State experience through a multifaceted prevention approach
  • Our focus is on spreading the 8 dimensions of wellness: Social, Financial, Emotional, Intellectual, Occupational, Environmental, Physical, and Spiritual through engaging activities and free swag items
  • We will promote our Peer Health Educator events on campus including Wellness Bars, Dog Therapy Thursday’s, and the Be Well Health Hut

Stress Management

Educate students about how to properly manage stress levels and equip them with the tools and resources to balance personal, professional, and academic life.

  • Self-care is crucial for mental health, stress reduction, and well-being
  • We will use interactive techniques to teach de-stressing tips on:
    • Daily movement, balanced nutrition, and prioritizing sleep
    • Students will have the opportunity to receive free stress management tools and resources
  • We aim to promote the variety of services that Counseling Services offers including:
    • Individual, couples, and group therapy, including free group sessions for LGBTQIA+ Support, Growth and Connection Process, and Grief and Loss Support

Sexual Health

Educate students on holistic sexual wellness, empowering them to make informed choices about pleasure, intimacy, and healthy relationships while fostering positive social norms around consent and sexual health.

  • We all deserve healthy, safe, and fulfilling relationships, including friendships, roommates, hook-ups, and romantic partners
  • We want students to understand that healthy relationships encompass:
    • honesty, respect, kindness, healthy conflict resolution, trust, independence, equality, responsibility, and fun
  • Students are encouraged to play our consent sort game and check out our safer sex supplies!
    • Students will learn that Boise State Health Services clinic provides on-campus sexual health resources and offers confidential counseling on various topics like gender/sexual orientation, trauma effects, sexual assault, and identity development

Love Lab

Provide students with sexual health resources for informed decision-making.

  • Students are welcome to take safer sex supplies from the Love Lab
    • It maintains a stock of a variety of sizes and types of condoms, personal lubricant, dental dams, and internal condoms as well as sexual health and healthy relationships materials
  • We want our campus community to be aware that safer sex supplies are available for free in Norco Building, Room 115
  • Students we will educated about what a sexually-transmitted disease (STI) is, how they are transmitted, and how they are prevented/treated, as well as pregnancy prevention

Nutrition and Body Image

Educate and support students to make informed decisions about their nutrition and physical activity to promote a healthy relationship with their bodies.

  • We prioritize body acceptance, the practice of accepting one’s body as it is, flaws, and all
    • Navigating eating a balanced diet as a college student can be challenging but we are here to help!
    • We seek to teach students to balance physical activity and nutritional habits
  • Through Yay Yourself positive affirmation scales, compliment cards, and the Affirmation Station, students will actively learn to appreciate their true selves

Alcohol Education

Provide education and promotion of safe alcohol consumption through harm reduction strategies.

  • Students will learn how to Party Smart, understanding the risks of drinking and how to make safer choices
    • Whether they choose to drink or not, they will know that there are ways to help keep themselves and their friends safe
  • To learn how to safely pour a standard drink, we will have a fun pouring game to play to test out their skills
  • ScreenU, an anonymous survey, will be available to help students reflect upon their drinking habits

Sleep Management

Promote awareness of the significance of sufficient sleep and help students develop healthier sleep routines in campus housing.

  • We will teach students about obtaining healthy sleep and help them understand that is important for both physical and mental health, improving productivity and overall quality of life
    • Students will be educated on the effects of sleep deprivation, learn sleep hygiene tips, and have the ability to create a positive nightly routine
  • Interactive DIY sleep kits will be built, providing tools and resources for a good nights rest such as eye masks, ear plugs, and tea
