What is the ambitious goal of this project?
Science communication is an integral part of the scientific process but communication barriers hinder community participation and create a sense of disbelief in science. In this VIP, you will become a member of an interdisciplinary team who works on advancing community engagement and participation in science.
Experience Gained
- Work with researchers, nonprofits and educators to disseminate science to the general public who speak Spanish or other languages.
- Science and professional communication, intercultural communication, public presentations, poster creation, creating communications plans that engage multiple audiences and community outreach, stay up-to-date on projects and create and distribute educational resources.
- This VIP is open to any students, especially those interested in biology, nature conservancy, public health, communication, STEM and World Languages.
Majors or Interests Needed
- All majors welcomed
- Fluent in a language other than English is desirable but not necessary
