Three times during his Bronco career, Steven Muse won NCAA All-American honors. Two of the national awards came at the 1987 NCAA Outdoor National Championships when he placed runner-up in the discus, and sixth in the shot-put. His third award came at the 1988 NCAA Indoor Championships when he placed fifth in the shot put. Muse won seven Big Sky Conference individual championships in the discus and shot put. Three times he won league titles in the discus (1985, 1987, and 1989, and three times he won the outdoor shot put (1986, 1987, and 1989). His lone indoor conference championship came in 1988 in the shot put. Muse established three Boise State records during his career. They include the indoor shot put at 61-11 ¾, the outdoor shot put at 61-8 ¼ and the discus at 198-2. In 1989, he helped the Broncos to the Big Sky Conference men’s outdoor team championship.
