Alumni Profile of the Week: Jessi Boyer

This week we want to introduce you to Jessi Boyer. Jessi completed the UXR Certificate in 2021. Today she is a graduate student in Anthropology at Boise State and she has opened her own UX business. Below is Jessi’s story.

I earned my UX Pro certificate in 2021, followed by a BA in Interdisciplinary Professional Studies in the summer of 2022. I have many years of political organizing and campaign management experience that I have mixed with a user-perspective skillset in my consulting business, Illuminated Insights, LLC. My clients include statewide political candidates, nonprofit organizations, and biotech and engineering firms.

I am also continuing my education. I am working on the Graduate Certificate in User Research and an MA in Anthropology at Boise State University. I am supported as a paid research assistant on a National Science Foundation funded grant – Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace – with Dr. Kendall House and Dr. John Ziker in Anthropology and Dr. Jerry Fails in Computer Science. The grant maps threat perception and responses in online parental behavior in a new theoretical framework called the Digital Ecology of Fear.

Last but most important, I am a single mom raising my (very cool) 12-year-old daughter in the East End of Boise, and she loves Boise summers. She strives to leverage her impact for justice, inclusivity, and conservation.

If you studied with Jessi, reach out and renew your connection. If you didn’t, get to know her and learn more about her UX research journey!
