Overview
The Bridge to the Doctorate is a program aiming to support students from underrepresented backgrounds in pursuing and completing their graduate studies in STEM. The program seeks to remove barriers, including financial, social, and historical challenges, that make it more difficult for students to earn their degrees. Funded by the National Science Foundation, the program is part of the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP), seeking to develop the next generation of scientists, providing various levels of support, including a close knit community, individualized advising and mentoring, and financial assistance.
Starting in Fall 2025, the Bridge to the Doctorate seeks to welcome 12 new students to the program. The application will open on September 3, 2024. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
See What Our Fellows Are Saying
“The Bridges to the Doctorate program was great for me. It’s been an overwhelmingly positive experience. I wasn’t very confident in my decision to get my PhD before I received the fellowship and I seriously considered going a different direction. After two years with this fellowship though, I’m certain that this is the right path for me.”
“Boise State University has given me the unique opportunity to become a scientist, but also has allowed me to find a community. The program also has the right people that cares about students thriving, not only becoming another statistic.”
