    Adjunct Professor of Producing and Screenwriting

    Jim Wareck is a producer/ screenwriter, and member of the Producers Guild of America. Jim’s films haveshown at film festivals worldwide including Sundance, Santa Barbara, Tallinn, Newport Beach, Seattle and Ankara. Notable films include Newlyweeds, the debut film of writer/director Shaka King (Judas and the Black Messiah) which premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, had its theatrical release in select theaters in September of 2013, and won a 2014 Independent Spirit Award and When I Am Done Dying, a 2021 nominee for Turkey’s submission to the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. Previous to teaching producing and screenwriting at Boise State, Jim served as a Producing mentor for the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) Latino Lens program and lectured on independent film making at the university level. Before working in film, Jim spent over two decades in government and politics at the Federal, State and Municipal levels in addition to work as a lobbyist and in non-profit advocacy. He holds a Masters in Public Administration from Columbia University and a BA from Vanderbilt University.
