Dr. Leslie Durham is the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, having previously served as the College of Arts and Sciences Interim Dean and as the Associate Dean of arts and humanities. Dr. Durham is also Professor of theatre history and dramaturgy for the Department of Theatre, Film and Creative Writing.
Durham joined the Boise State faculty in 2001 after earning her Ph.D. at the University of Kansas. An expert in theatre history, women in theatre and dramaturgy, Durham has three books and nearly three dozen journal articles and professional presentations to her credit. She is a member of the Boise State Arts and Humanities Institute advisory board and currently serves as the Boise State liaison to Trey McIntyre Project, Ballet Idaho and the Idaho Shakespeare Festival. Durham fulfilled the role of associate dean in an acting or interim capacity since fall 2010.
She is the author of Staging Gertrude Stein: Absence, Culture, and the Landscape of the American Alternative Theatre, Theatre Lives: An Introduction to Theatre (co-author, Sally Shedd), and several articles and reviews published in Theatre Journal, The Journal of Dramatic Theory and Criticism, and Text and Presentation. She is currently working on her third book titled Strictly Prohibited: Women’s Voices on American Stages in the First Decade of the New Century.
