How can you tell a plastic item is a #1, #2, or #5?
Most plastic containers have a recycling triangle on the bottom or base with a number that will tell you what type of plastic it is. Containers with a triangle with a 1, 2, or 5 in it, can be recycled on our campus.
What about bottle caps and lids?
Bottle caps are okay to leave on, but lids to jugs and jars must be removed and thrown away.
What about the old signage?
They are outdated and we are in the process of removing them and replacing them.
Why can’t recyclables be bagged?
Plastic bags and films can get tangled in sorting machines. It forces the Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) to sort them by hand.
Who do I contact if I need a new recycling bin or if my recycling wasn’t picked up?
Please email svcreqs@boisestate.edu or call (208) 426-1409 with your request.
