We’ve been graced with a few sunny days and you may have seen some Treefort bunting (those colorful, felt flags) around the Student Union Building and felt an excitement in the air. These are tell tale signs that Treefort Music Fest is upon us, happening March 26 -30 in downtown Boise with the main stage just over Friendship Bridge in Julia Davis Park.

So, what is Treefort? It is a multi-day music and art festival spread out all across Boise hosting over 400 emerging and touring artists from around the globe, including headliners – Remi Wolf, Sofi Tukker, Shakey Graves and Bright Eyes. Shows and events take place at dozens of parks, music venues, restaurants, and pop-up venues across the city. Check out our Unofficial Guide to Treefort 2025 for more on what it’s all about. The festival typically takes place during spring break but this year Boise State class will be in session along with a special Treefort at Boise State pop-up on campus.

Enter: your guide to attending Treefort as a college student. We’re gathering tips and tricks to participate on a budget while still embarking on the full experience of discovery that the festival is all about!

Securing a Ticket

Treefort is for everyone. Finding a cost effective way to attend is within reach! New this year, Treefort is offering a college discount pass so students can enjoy up to $75 off their Treefort 2025 pass! Choose from Single Day Main Stage (by day), a 5-day Full Treefort Pass, or a 4-day Main Stage Only Pass.

Additionally, there is loads of free (and all ages!) programming at venues like Boise Brewing, Bandshell at Julia Davis Park, Rhodes Skate Park, Cyclops Stage, and more!

Plus, closer to the festival, Treefort will make single show tickets available for show at select venues. Tickets usually range from $25-35 and get you access to the full day of programming at that venue.

You’ve secured your ticket (or list of free venues) and you’re ready to venture out into the festival. There are over 700 events over the five days, but let’s break it down for our top picks for students:

Treefort at Boise State

Treefort Music Fest is spilling over Friendship Bridge and into Boise State Campus for the 2025 festival. This year, Boise State will be hosting programming on Thursday, March 27 and Friday, March 28 at multiple buildings on campus including an official venue, Campus Amphitheater.

Main Stage

When you’re done supporting Boise State showcases, cross the bridge to Julia Davis Park where you’ll find Bandshell stage, Alefort, Kidfort and more fort programming on the free side of the park with Main Stage and Hideout Stage on the ticketed side. This is the hub of the fest where all aspects of discover collide for full days of community art and music.

All Ages Venues

As you venture downtown to the dozens of venues participating in Treefort you’ll find that over half of the venues are all ages including, Treefort Music Hall, The Shredder, Shrine Social Club, and Lost Grove Brewing.

Explore

After you get the lay of land, it’s time to explore! The best part of Treefort is the nature of discovery. No one can recognize all (or even most) of the names on the lineup but walking from stage to venue to fort to food truck and stumbling upon your next favorite band, long lost classmate or traveling performance art act is what it’s all about.

Getting Around

It’s easy to walk, bike or skate to and around the festival. Boise State Campus is steps from the Treefort Main Stage and minutes from the rest of the venues downtown. Additionally, each year Treefort Music Fest partners with Valley Regional Transit to run FREE “Treeline” shuttle with live performances on the bus at select times. The Treeline runs from Wednesday through Saturday for wristband holders, but since students ride VRT for free with their Bronco Card, you can hop on the bus for free without having a Treefort pass. Don’t forget the Bronco Shuttle Orange routes also operate from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday as a Boise State to Downtown route.
