Boise State’s deep-rooted history with Treefort begins at the festival’s inception in 2012. Now, not only does Boise State sponsor Treefort, but we also highlight the work of many Boise State students, alumni and employees that shine rays of talent and creativity through the City of Trees. For the first time, Treefort does not fall over spring break, giving students more chances to attend the festival and be on the lineup! Catch these Boise State students among the hundreds of performers descending upon downtown Boise for Treefort 2025 – March 26 – 30.
Here are 5 ½ Boise State students that are participating in Treefort Music Fest this year:
1) Jack and Simeon of The Fjord People on work, school, performing and how it all comes together

“It all feeds into the same thing. Being an independent student, I work and play to survive. So I have shifts at the Egyptian Theatre and shifts with Duck Club. Not only trying to survive, you know, trying to get good grades. But surprisingly, it all kind of feeds into the same thing and for me, at least, that’s Fjord. It’s keeping that afloat and making sure we’re growing individually and as an ensemble.” – Simeon Titmus
“I think of music as a totality; my tuba playing informs my conducting, and my conducting study informs my bass playing, and my bass playing and bands and gigs inform my classical side. It’s all part of the same whole.” – Jack Gardner
Find them at Treefort 2025: Saturday, March 29 at 4:30pm: The Fjord People at Boise Brewing
2) Maci on Boise’s inclusive music scene

“I really love being at Boise State because I get to pursue my academic interests and be close to music. The Boise music scene feels like a very inclusive space and I feel like just from October to now, I’ve performed live more than I ever thought I would, which has been really fun.” – Maci Mattravers
Find Maci playing in her solo project at Treefort 2025: Saturday, March 29 at 4:00pm: Maci Mattravers at Lost Grove Brewing and in her band Ethel Rose, Wednesday, March 26 at 6:00pm: Ethel Rose at Shrine Basement
3) Gabe of Fleeting Confidence on how performing is a passion

“Do what you love because you love doing it, and it’s like I’m going to school to be an engineer, because I love working with my hands. I am in a band because I like playing music. I love performing. As long as I can keep doing it. I think I will.” – Gabe Perez

4) Bella (Filmfort Intern) on how her internship with Filmfort solidified her career aspirations

“Everyone welcomed me with open arms and treated me with a gentle patience that made me feel motivated and like I truly belonged. This internship has by definition offered me everything I could’ve asked for, along with new and exciting experiences. Most importantly, it has shown me that I am exactly where I need and want to be.” – Bella Ramirez

5) Katie Jones (Treefort Marketing Intern) on appreciating Boise’s creative community
“Being a part of the Treefort team has allowed me to combine my passion for art and music in such a meaningful way. The team is full of the most talented, hardworking and passionate people, and I feel beyond lucky to learn from them. The internship has given me a deeper appreciation for Boise’s creative community and music scene, and all the cool people it brings together. Treefort will be amazing and I can’t wait to influence attendees’ experiences, as well as experience something that so many have worked hard to make happen!” – Katie Jones
