5 1/2 Things About Veterans Day

With around 19.5 million Veterans in America, we want to celebrate everyone who has so honorably served our country. Whether you live in Idaho or not, we’re here to say thank you and celebrate all that you do. So, here are some specials, events, and programs that deserve some attention on Veterans Day.

1) Wounded Warrior Project livestream

The Wounded Warrior Project is going to put on a livestream event hosted by former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst, Jesse Palmer. You can watch it on Facebook or YouTube and the stream will include personal stories from Veterans as well as live musical performances from artists like Sara Evans. Check it out Nov. 11 at 9:30 a.m. MST.

2) Veterans Day freebies and discounts

You most likely already know that there are tons of awesome discounts and freebies out there for Veterans on (and surrounding) Veterans Day. However, these specials aren’t only for free meals, but also dental care, free lodging, hair cuts, car washes, and free admission to tons of fun places.

3) National Veterans Memorial and Museum livestream

For this livestream, TV personality and Veteran Montel Williams will host a ceremony and celebration which honors Veterans everywhere. There will be several other special military guests to join in the celebration and speak their thanks to all the hard-working Veterans out there. It will take place from 8 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. MST on Nov. 11.

4) The “One More Day” program

Some reports say that over 20 Veterans take their lives every day and this program aims to make a difference in that statistic. They offer help by reaching out to Veterans before they leave the military to help get Veterans set up with anything they might need to have a successful return to civilian life like housing, distress counseling, and they’re even working on legislation which will provide guard units more resources for training and suicide prevention. 5) NYC Veterans Day parade

Navy Veteran Jared Lyon will be the grand marshall of this year’s virtual NYC Veterans Day parade. The event will take place on Nov. 11 from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. MST and will feature Lyon as a speaker as well as a livestream of a motorcade, march, wreath laying, and more. Take a look at their Facebook page for more info.
