Sometimes I forget about all the cool things that happen in Boise. And maybe topping the list of the events we get to host in our own backyard, is the annual Treefort Music Fest, which usually falls on the week of our spring break. And while some may take off for home or another destination for break, Treefort offers far more than 5 ½ reasons to stick around Boise for at least some of our week off. Keep reading for some facts and information about what exactly Treefort is about, when it’s all happening, and how you can join in on the fun.
1) What is Treefort?
Treefort is a multi-day music and art festival spread out all across Boise. Concerts and events take place at dozens of parks, restaurants, and other venues across the city. Started in 2012, the event has been described as one of the premier art and entertainment festivals in the western United States. This year, Treefort will take place March 22-26.
2) So. Much. Music.
For the indie music lover, Treefort is a dream come true. Believe it or not, there are over 400 acts performing at the festival this year. With this much great music, it’s probably smart to check out the lineup so you can pick who you want to see (and sing along) in concert with.
3) Beyond the tunes
While music obviously makes up the bulk of Treefort, it’s not the only bit of fun. For film-lovers, there’s Filmfort. For vigorous writers and readers, there’s Storyfort. For foodies (me), there’s, of course, Foodfort. For comedy fans, there’s even Comedyfort. And this isn’t even all of the “forts” you can take part in this year!
4) How to get your hands on some tickets
There are several different packages and ticket prices to choose from when purchasing passes to Treefort. Luckily for us, if you already live in Boise, you don’t need to pay for travel or lodging. If you want to volunteer some of your time, you can get yourself an extremely affordable 5-day pass for just a few shifts of work.
5) Cheer on your fellow Broncos!
Some members of our Bronco Nation family are taking center stage this upcoming Treefort at the Boise State Music Student Showcase. This will take place on Friday, March 24 at the Egyptian Theatre 4-5:30 p.m. If there’s one show you’re not going to want to miss, it’s this one.
