A pumpkin with the Boise State 'B

Happy Halloween, Broncos! This holiday lands on a weekday this year, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. Here are 5 ½ ways you can celebrate the spooky season.

1) Haunted Houses

Looking to get spooked on Halloween night? There are plenty of places around Boise with stories that will haunt you. We’ve already found spots with some eerie stories for you. Check out the The Haunted World attraction or the free Haunted Hallways Maze that will definitely leave you scared…so, maybe bring a buddy.

2) Painting and carving pumpkins

Halloween and pumpkins go hand in hand, so if you haven’t already, head to your nearest grocery store and pick out the best looking pumpkin. The pumpkin is your canvas so get creative. Make it a whole day and go on an adventure to Jordan’s Pumpkin Patch or Lowe’s Family Farmstead for pumpkins while enjoying more fall activities.

3) Spooky snacks

Halloween is really just an excuse to eat a lot of your favorite candy without guilt. And it’s also a time to get crafty. Try some of your own recipes, like trail mix with your favorite candy and caramel dipped apples. We’re full of other ideas about college-friendly fall snacks that you can check out. Pumpkin bread? Yes, please.

4) Scary movies

If you want to get out of the house for a scare, catch a horror movie at a local theater in Boise. The Egyptian Theater has showings of old Halloween movies for that hint of nostalgia. Or just have a movie night at home with friends with those spooky snacks you made.

5) Last-minute costumes

In a pinch for a costume? Use what’s already in your closet to throw together an outfit that looks like you actually put thought into it. The creative possibilities are endless with just a plain, white t-shirt and a Sharpie.Boise’s local thrift stores are also a great way to find cheap, quirky fits that you can turn into a costume and support local nonprofits.  Here are some last-minute costume ideas to get you started.

5 ½) Photoshoots

Grab a friend and have a fall photoshoot to spice up your Instagram. All you need is a sheet and some cool glasses…and maybe a black cat.
