Body Acceptance Week is here at Boise State from February 26 – March 1. This week will be full of fun events each day to learn how to incorporate healthy body image practices into your daily routine. Here are 5 ½ things about the lineup of events to mark your calendar for.
1) Self-Love Barbie Box
The week is kicking off with a Barbie Box photo booth — or should we say “Bronco box” — decked out in blue and orange. Come embrace some self love (and Bronco spirit), eat free snacks and enter a giveaway on Monday, February 26, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m in the Interactive Learning Center (ILC)!
2) Affirmation Station
Give yourself and others a confidence boost by contributing to the affirmation walls on Tuesday February 27, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the ILC and 3 – 7 p.m. in the Rec Center. There will be more free snacks and drinks for those who participate.
3) Collage Station
Join students at the collage station to create an authentic collage that challenges social media on Wednesday, February 28, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the ILC. Later that evening, join the first of the Healthy Body, Healthy Mind discussion groups in the Bergquist Lounge in the SUB. It’s the first of a three-week series. If you’d like to, you can register here!
4) YAY! Yourself
Step on a scale that gives you an affirmation instead of a number! You can find the Yay! Yourself stations in the ILC at 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.and 3 – 7 p.m. in the Rec Center on Thursday, February 29. Plus — you guessed it — free snacks!
5) Donut Believe What You See on Social Media
Grab a free donut in the ILC from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and head to ILC room #118 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. in to learn about the Intersection of media, body image and eating disorders from Nicole Hawkins from Center for Change. Students can register on Engage and professionals can register here.
5 ½) Learn from Poodle Science
Laci Whipple, the Body Acceptance Week coordinator and Body Image Intern for BroncoFit, recommended this video to remind us to respect ourselves and others for our differences.
