You’re a student on a student budget, but that does not mean you can’t enjoy what this amazing city has to offer. Slowly but surely, in my time here, I have learned to use my Boise State ID for student discounts that save me money and enrich my experience here. Keep reading for some fun options to grab your friends and explore Boise on a budget!

1) Museums
Boise Art Museum is located right off the Greenbelt at Julia Davis Park and creates visual arts experiences that engage people and inspire learning! Bring your student ID and you can get in for free. Plus, you can take in the arts right here on campus at Blue Galleries and the Stein Luminary at the Center for Visual Arts.
2) Record Stores
Record stores are the perfect spot to discover new music and soak in creative energy. Boise’s music scene is thriving, and we have some great shops close to campus. The Record Exchange and Spin Records Boise offer a 10% discount when showing your student ID. Record Exchange has gifts, a coffee shop, and occasional live performances. Spin Records Boise is conveniently located right off Broadway Ave.
3) Coffee Shops
Coffee shops are the best place to meet up with friends or even get some homework done in a new environment. Dawson Taylor Coffee Roasters has locations downtown and just across Capitol Blvd. from campus, and offers 10% off when you show your student ID. Black Rock Coffee Bar is, without a doubt, a fan favorite among Boise State students. Show your student ID on Tuesdays and drinks become only $4.
4) Entertainment
The Flicks is a local independent movie theater located just over the river. Cozy up for an indie or international film with the best popcorn in the valley! Student tickets are just $6.50 when you show your student ID.
5) Adventure
Bogus Basin is our local non-profit mountain, and is only fortyish minutes away from Boise. Bogus is the Treasure Valley’s year-round destination for mountain recreation, education, and community, offering skiing, snowshoeing, and tubing in the winter and mountain coasters, hiking, and rope courses in the warmer months. College students get discounts on all season passes!
5 ½ ) Free Stuff for Full-Time Students
Full-time students also get free bus rides on Valley Regional Transit, tickets to home athletic games, and access to Campus Recreation. Know of more discounts around town? Message Boise State Student Life on Instagram, and we’ll share with the class.
