Global Learning
Students in the School of Public Service build global connections through a variety of immersive experiences that extend their education beyond the classroom. Study abroad programs, alternative spring breaks, and trips with faculty members enable students to engage directly with communities worldwide, gaining firsthand insights into global challenges and solutions. These experiences, combined with a curriculum focused on global issues, allow students to deepen their understanding of diverse cultural and political landscapes. As a result, they are prepared to become informed and compassionate leaders with a network of international peers and professionals.
Preparation through experience
SPS courses bring in diverse perspectives from international guest speakers, studying abroad and academic trips. Additionally, students interested in joining the Peace Corps can take courses that help them prepare for the career and fast-track them into the system.
Travel and Learn
Study abroad programs empower students to gain new perspectives, learn in different ways and expand their horizons beyond the traditional classroom setting. Programs are available for a semester or entire year.
Global Impact
Many SPS students have gone on to receive Fulbright scholarships, join the Peace Corps and work at the United Nations. Our students are often selected for prestigious worldwide internships or international exchange programs where they serve as ambassadors of the United States.
Sharing Culture
SPS students have the opportunity to meet and interact with people from around the world, right here on campus. SPS participates in a number of global exchange opportunities, such as the Mandela Washington Fellowship.
