The Andrus Center for Public Policy advances the legacy issues of former Idaho Governor and Secretary of the Interior, Cecil D. Andrus — wise use of our environmental resources and public lands, proper funding of education for our children and the cultivation of leadership from all segments of our society.
The Governor had a passion for the environment and public lands and strongly supported educating students to cherish these unique Idaho treasures. The Governor’s legacy is carried on through the establishment of the Cecil D. Andrus Chair, which is held by a faculty member in the environmental science program at Boise State University.
The faculty member who holds the prestigious Cecil D. Andrus Chair for Environment and Public Lands will carry on Governor Andrus’ legacy to educate students about the balance and wise use of our environmental resources and public lands and to develop courses and experiential learning opportunities for students interested in these policy areas.
In memory of Cecil D. Andrus, Idaho’s four-term governor, U.S. Interior secretary, and champion for education, the Andrus family requests memorial gifts be made to the Andrus Center for Public Policy at Boise State University, which is dedicated to furthering his life’s work and legacy.
