Political Science Internships

In the Political Science Program, students with at least a 2.0 GPA have the opportunity to participate in internships. Participating in internships gives students real-world work experience and helps them build connections in the field before graduating.

Note: all internships are governed by the Practicum and Internship Policy 3060.

Internship components

  • Students have a final culminating reflection project

Efficiency

Students can use up to 3-credit hours in internship credits towards their upper division electives in the major. 1-credit hour is the equivalent of 45 hours worked, 2-credits is the equivalent of 90 hours, and 3-credits is the equivalent of 135 hours.

Flexibility

Students may earn more than 3-credit hours in internship credits, but they should ask their academic advisor about how the additional credits above 3 will count towards their overall degree requirements.

Paths

There are two internship options in the Political Science Program: the Traditional Process and the Capital Connection Program.
