Project Update: NSF COMPLEAT Project Evaluation
McAllister Hall
The COMPLEAT Project Evaluation aims to measure the success of the the ACE course model on teaching pre-service elementary teachers (PSETs), PSET instructors, and elementary students participating in the community activity. The evaluation is completed at the end of each university semester. February marked the completion of the Fall 2023 evaluation. The evaluation answers six research questions. Three ask about the impact of the community activity and ACE course model on PSETs’ ability to teach STEM and to change their attitudes toward STEM. Two questions address the impact of the community activity on elementary students’ feelings toward STEM, and the final question asks about the impact of the course model on university instructor’s teaching methods.
Student Project: IOEM Emergency Sheltering Gap Analysis
In February, the Spring 2024 IPI interns completed their project for the Idaho Office of Emergency Management. The report included a Tableau dashboard demonstrating the current sheltering capacity across the state and an analysis of the dashboard. The interns presented the report and dashboard to a team from IOEM in February to complete the project. The dashboard indicates the capacity of emergency shelters in each county across the state and can be found using the following link.
