Message from HCRI Director Brittany Brand
“In my role as Director of the Boise State Hazard and Climate Resilience Institute, I have had many occasions to collaborate with IPI. Every experience is unique in the project content and scope but consistent in the quality of work and enthusiasm for collaboration from the IPI Interim Director, Vanessa Fry, and her staff. Boise State and the State of Idaho are fortunate to have access to such an incredible think tank at their service. I am looking forward to future collaborative opportunities with IPI, which I know will be many.”

Innovative Housing Research
IPI engages in housing policy research to provide policymakers with information on this critical issue. In 2017, IPI’s research informed the creation of New Path Community Housing, a 40-unit, permanent supportive housing program in Boise. IPI completes annual evaluations of the program’s impact on the community and residents. Two years after opening, the program resulted in 60% reduction in emergency services by New Path residents and a total savings/cost avoidance of $2,659,021 for the community.
IPI has engaged in many community partnerships on housing policy research:
- Blue Sky Institute
- City of Boise
- Our Path Home
- City of Idaho Falls
- Idaho Department of Health and Welfare
- Office of the Governor
- Idaho Legal Aid Services, Inc.
- Idaho Housing and Finance Association
- US Department of Housing and Urban Development
