PLACE Scholars Internship

About

The PLACE Scholars Graduate Internship Program is a funded summer program aimed at helping masters students that want to work in environmental management careers. Participants will spend 10 weeks (minimum 30 hours a week) during the summer working directly with a community around an environmental issue of their choosing, helping the student to deepen their knowledge around the environmental issue, expanding their professional networks, and learning how the community is working to meet the demands of the chosen environmental issue.

PLACE Scholars will receive $12,000 (per student) for the 10-week experience. All students that have been admitted to a Boise State Masters degree program and are preparing to work in environmental management (in any capacity) post-graduation are eligible to apply. Upon selection, students will work with a faculty sponsor and a community partner to design the internship experience. The opportunity to choose the place you want to live, the community you want to work with, and the environmental issue you want to work on is a signature component of this internship program, and provides graduate students the opportunity to design their own experience. Upon completion of the internship, students will be responsible for writing a reflective chapter about their work, responding to surveys and participating in focus groups.
