One in every four Idahoans is a family caregiver. The Idaho Caregiver Alliance (ICA) was established in 2012 and is the only organization in Idaho focused on family caregivers across the lifespan. The vision of the 1,000+ organizations and individuals involved in ICA is for caregivers and the people they care for are recognized, valued and supported in Idaho.
The work of ICA is funded by National Lifespan Respite grants from the Administration on Community Living and conducted in collaboration with the Idaho Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Program in the Division of Public Health and prior to 2023, the Idaho Commission on Aging.
ICA moved to the School of Public and Population Health (SPPH) at Boise State University in 2024. It was formerly housed within the Center for the Study of Aging. ICA regularly engages undergraduate and graduate students in research, programs and outreach.
