In this series, we ask Public Health and Population Science (PHPS) students to tell us a little about their internship experience and share what was the best part.
Major
B.S. in Public Health, Health Education and Promotion (HEP) Emphasis.
Internship Role
The Total Health in the Emergency Department (ThED) Program Intern with St. Luke’s Emergency Department.
What were some of your projects?
I was responsible for assisting with quality control, interacting with patients and providing tailored resources to meet their needs. I also helped maintain an accurate list of community resources and provided feedback about the program.
What was the best part?
This internship has really opened my eyes to some of the barriers that individuals face when trying to access healthcare, as well as barriers to fulfilling basic needs such as housing and food security. I have really enjoyed working with patients to try and address some of these issues.
