Clinical Assistant Professor, CHP Emphasis Coordinator

Ashley Havlicak is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Public and Population Health at Boise State University, where her journey as both student and educator spans over a decade. Having earned her Bachelor’s in Health Education and Promotion and Master’s in Public Health from Boise State, she continues to deepen her academic roots while pursuing her Ph.D. in Public and Population Health Leadership, bringing a unique perspective to her teaching that combines scholarly achievement with practical experience.
Her career spans diverse roles in public health, serving as Managing Editor for the Journal of School Health, Project Manager for the $5.7 million RK-12 Rural Schools Research Project, and Program Director of the Transforming Communities Initiative at United Way of Treasure Valley, where she successfully advocated for state-wide policy changes in breastfeeding protection and tobacco legislation. Her commitment to education began as a Teaching Assistant and Certified Peer Educator at Boise State, experiences that laid the foundation for her current role creating inclusive learning environments and mentoring future public health professionals.
Ashley is passionate about addressing youth mental health, advancing policy, systems, and environmental change, and examining the social conditions that influence health outcomes. Her research contributions have focused on school-based interventions and rural health initiatives, with peer-reviewed publications examining behavioral supports and preventive measures in educational settings. As a native Idahoan, she brings both academic expertise and deep community understanding to her work, dedicated to improving public health outcomes through evidence-based approaches and systemic change.
