We’re proud to highlight an inspiring reunion at the College of Arts and Sciences. 13 years ago, Julia Broderick was a sociology student in Desiree Brunette’s class. Today, they’re back together again, co-teaching UF 100: “Complicated Relationships” and guest lecturing in each other’s courses like SOC 101, Sociological Communication and Sociology of Family. Brunette, who was named COAS “Outstanding Faculty” last year, continues to inspire through her dynamic teaching and impactful mentoring. Following in her mentor’s footsteps, Broderick has established herself as a powerful advocate for students, nominating last year’s commencement speaker, serving on the faculty senate and leading trauma-informed teaching workshops on attachment. It’s educators like these who make the Sociology Department and the College of Arts and Sciences a thriving community to learn, grow and lead.
Feel free to drop by the Sociology department anytime to meet our friendly faculty and your classmates. We’d love to chat over a cup of coffee, tea, or water, and we always have lollipops on hand for a sweet treat!
