Adjunct Instructor
Carolina Valderrama-Echavarria joined the faculty of the Sociology Department in 2014. She is originally from Barranquilla, Colombia, and proud alumni from the same school that Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll (the famous colombian singer) attended. If you must know, the school’s name is Compañía de María La Enseñanza in Barranquilla and about the video “Bicicleta”, those halls look the same!
She earned a B.A. in Sociology and a M.A. in History from Boise State University and holds a Certificate in Marketing Strategies from Cornell University. Her graduate theses focused on the lack of community building among the Colombian Diaspora in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Her areas of interest include community development, social fragmentation, and the manifestations of historical trauma.
