Types of Service-Learning Classes
Fully Integrated Service-Learning class
Service is embedded into the course and is an integral part of the learning process and class discussion.
Optional Service-Learning class
Two types:
- Students can choose to do a service project in place of another assignment like a research paper or
- Students can choose to do their applied project with a non-profit or government organization (while other students choose a for-profit). Instructors design these choice points in advance.
Service-Learning Lab
Optional, 1 credit co-requisite class that requires 40 hours of service and reflection time with faculty members outside of the regular 3 credit class. You must register for the lab to receive credit.
