In order to partner with the Boise State Service-Learning Program, your organization must meet a few minimal requirements that ensure a successful experience for you and our students:
1. SL community partners shall usually be beyond Boise State University, and shall include:
- A nonprofit or public organization focusing primarily on the public good, or an individual/collective/grassroots expert that has intimate knowledge and experience in the community. Examples include:
- 501(C)(3), 501(C)(4), and 501(C)(7) status which include religious, educational, charitable, scientific, and literary groups and organizations; programs for children and the aging; social welfare organizations; social and recreational clubs.
- Government entities such as schools or social service organizations.
- B Corps companies
- Neighborhood Associations
2. Responsibilities of the Site
- All service sites must agree to service experiences and a service environment that are in accord with Boise State University policy not to discriminate against any individual on the basis of age, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, disability, veteran status, political affiliation, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
- The service site must agree to accept responsibility for assignment and supervision of students.
- Students at these sites may not displace an employed worker.
- Documentation of liability insurance coverage must be provided prior to the provision of onsite service.
