About Us

    Kara Brascia

    Service-Learning Director

    Duties: faculty support and recognition, program strategy and oversight, campus collaborations

    Kara came to Boise State in 2000 from a nationally ranked Service-Learning program at the University of Utah. She brings over twenty years of experience consulting with faculty, students, and community agencies. Kara earned her bachelor’s degree from Macalester College in Minnesota and her master’s degree in Communication from the University of Utah.

    Casey McGee

    (He,Him,His) Service-Learning Educational Development Specialist

    Duties: Forming, building, and initiating community partnerships; brainstorming and designing service-learning projects; collaborating with other Boise State community-facing programs

    McGee joined the Service-Learning team in 2023. He earned a Master’s Degree in Community Organizing and has over 15 years of experience working with nonprofit organizations in direct service, program development, and leadership roles, specializing in addressing homelessness through collective impact

    Erin Rausch

    (She, Her, Hers) Service-Learning Educational Development Specialist

    Duties: service-learning student support and employment, classroom & instructor support during the service-learning semester

    Erin started with the Boise State Service-Learning program in November 2018. Erin has earned a M.S. in Health Education, focusing on adolescence and substance abuse and prior to coming to Boise State she directed University of the Pacific’s community center focusing on leadership, education, and service where her work has focused on community building, service, social advocacy, student development and leadership. Erin has been a foster parent, distance hiker, and wants nothing more than for folks to become educated citizens of our global community.

    Molly Braeunig

    Service-Learning Graduate Assistant

    Duties: Service-Learning student marketing & communications; student employment program management

    Molly is pursuing her masters degree in counseling at Boise State University, with a focus on addiction counseling. She completed her undergraduate degree in Physics at Agnes Scott College before spending 15 years in marketing, recruiting, and people-management. Molly’s mission in returning to school – and in joining the Service-Learning team – is to do work that contributes meaningfully and positively to her community here in Boise. When she’s not working or studying she’s usually riding a bike, hiking, or playing with her dog, Tug.

  • Cadee Lindemood

    Service-Learning Student Leader

    Duties:  As a Service Learning Student Leader at Boise Urban Garden School, Cadee facilitates communication between students and staff, leads volunteer shifts, and teaches sustainable gardening practices.

    Pursuing a degree in Environmental Science at Boise State University, she is passionate about sustainability and community service. Outside of academics, Cadee enjoys outdoor activities, art, and time with loved ones.

    Duties:  As a Service Learning Student Leader at Boise Urban Garden School, Cadee facilitates communication between students and staff, leads volunteer shifts, and teaches sustainable gardening practices.

    Service-Learning Student Leader

    Duties: Coordination of Service-Learning student schedules with community partners; Provide support for students, instructors, and community partners

    James started with the Service-Learning program in 2024 after taking a service-learning course. He is currently working on a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, and plans on continuing at Boise State in the Master of Environmental Management program after graduation in May 2025. James has experience as a volunteer with conservation non-profits and working with people with disabilities. He spends his free time enjoying outdoor recreational activities.

    Karis started with the Service-Learning program in 2024 after taking several service-learning classes. She is currently working on a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Communications, and plans on continuing at Boise State in the Master Organization and Workplace Learning program after graduation Fall 2025. Karis is a first generation graduate with a lifelong love of learning and connecting with others. She’s passionate about service-learning because it provides the opportunity for students to engage in activities that address community needs as a way of achieving academic goals and social change. Outside of academics Karis is an avid reader, loves gardening, baking, sewing and being the mother of numerous human and fur babies.

    Service-Learning Ambassador

    Duties: Support service-learning promotion, data management, event planning, and office management

    Jermaine Chloe Yalung is a nursing student at Boise State University, originally from the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. She’s passionate about Service-Learning and always looking for innovative ways to learn and make a positive impact to those around her. Chloe thrives in hands-on experiences and enjoys connecting with others. Community means a lot to her because she comes from a small island, where connections are everything. One of her main goals in Service-Learning is to support and strengthen communities, just as the tight-knit environment she grew up in has shaped who she is today.

    Service-Learning Ambassador

    Duties: Service-Learning promotion, event planning and coordination, office management

    Saige is studying for an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science with a minor in Biology. Having grown up in northern Idaho, Saige developed a passion for the natural world. She is driven to be a part of making it possible for nature to be enjoyed and appreciated for years to come. Outside of school and work, Saige often spends her time hiking, rock climbing, and enjoying coffee with friends. With this position Saige aims to connect students with experiences that benefit them and the community.

    Duties: Service-Learning promotion, event planning and coordination, office management

    Saige is studying for an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science with a minor in Biology. Having grown up in northern Idaho, Saige developed a passion for the natural world.
