Boise State Theatre and the Sun Valley Playwright's Residency present "Horoscope"

Horoscope by Rajiv Joseph

At 7 PM on October 24, 2024 at Boise Contemporary Theatre and at 7 PM on October 25, 2024 at The Argyros’ Tierney Theatre, Sun Valley Playwright’s Residency and Boise State Theatre Arts Program will present a reading of “Horoscope,” a new play by Rajiv Joseph. The readings will feature twelve Theatre Arts majors and alumni from Boise State University. The programming will include a conversation between Sun Valley Playwright’s Residency Artistic Director John Baker and Rajiv Joseph, Pulitzer Prize Finalist and Obie Award winner. About “Horoscope”

Twelve characters, twelve scenes, twelve months of the year: Horoscope centers on a group of twenty-somethings searching for meaning beyond their current orbit.

About Rajiv Joseph

An American playwright and screenwriter, Rajiv Joseph writes thought-provoking and emotionally charged works. Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1974, Joseph graduated from Miami University with a degree in creative writing before going on to receive his MFA in playwriting from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Joseph made his Broadway debut in 2011 with the play “Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo,” which starred Robin Williams in the lead role. The play, which explores the Iraq War through the eyes of a tiger in the Baghdad Zoo, received critical acclaim. The Pulitzer Prize named “Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo” as a finalist for the award. Joseph’s other notable stage works include “Gruesome Playground Injuries,” “Animals Out of Paper,” and “Guards at the Taj,” which won the 2016 Obie Award for Best New American Play. His other honors include the Kesselring Prize for Drama, the Laurents/Hatcher Foundation Award, and the Whiting Award for Drama.
