The Beck Scholars Program includes:

  • A summer internship that is 10 weeks, 30-40/hr per week and 6 credit hours
  • A $6,000 stipend (paid by Boise State Financial Aid) to help pay for internship credit hours, provide the equivalent of a living wage for hours worked and any internship-related travel and expenses

Upon successful program completion, Beck Scholars:

  • May receive letters of professional recommendation from their internship agency supervisors upon request.
  • May request letters of professional recommendation from the School of the Arts representatives.

2025 Summer Internships in the School of the Arts

Summer 2025 internship with The Common Well

The Common Well Art Program consists of a vibrant contemporary art gallery, innovative artist residencies, classroom space and an outdoor stage. The Art Program is supported in part by community partnerships with Surel’s Place and Alexa Rose Foundation.

The Common Well is a vibrant collective of practicing artists in the heart of Garden City, dedicated to creativity, collaboration and connection. They’re looking for a passionate and detail-oriented intern to help facilitate their Art Program and bring gallery events to life.

In this hands-on role, you’ll gain invaluable experience in the art world — working closely with artists, curators and visitors while developing skills in event coordination, gallery operations and behind-the-scenes logistics. If you’re excited about art, community and building real-world experience in a dynamic environment, they’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Bring events to life: Help plan and execute unforgettable gallery experiences — from captivating exhibitions to artist talks and lively receptions.
  • Handle the details: Coordinate event logistics like scheduling, vendor communication and setup/breakdown to keep everything running smoothly.
  • Keep the team organized: Provide essential administrative support — manage email correspondence, maintain records and keep things on track behind the scenes.
  • Be the face of the gallery: Welcome visitors with warmth and enthusiasm, sharing insights about our exhibitions and the incredible artists we showcase.
  • Amplify their voice: Assist with social media updates and promotional efforts, helping spread the word about our events and creative community.
  • Keep the gallery flowing: Support daily operations to ensure our space remains an inspiring and welcoming environment.

What Common Well is looking for:

  • Art enthusiast: You’re passionate about the arts and eager to learn more about gallery operations and event management.
  • Master organizer: You thrive on keeping multiple projects moving forward with strong attention to detail and stellar multitasking skills.
  • Great communicator: Your interpersonal skills shine — you’re friendly, professional and clear in both written and verbal communication.
  • Detail-oriented and self-driven: You take initiative, stay focused and manage your time well.
  • Tech-savvy: You’re comfortable with social media and tools like Google Docs — bonus points if you have creative content ideas!
  • Flexible and reliable: You’re available for flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, and ready to dive into the dynamic flow of gallery life.

Please complete the following questions and submit your responses along with your resume.

  • Why are you excited about this internship, and what do you hope to learn from it?
  • Tell us about a time you helped plan or support an event. What was your role, and how did you handle any challenges?
  • What skills or experiences (like social media, customer service, or event coordination) make you a great fit for this role?

Application deadline: April 11, 2025
