Storyfort Internship with Treefort
Treefort Music Fest is a five-day music festival in downtown Boise. Featuring hundreds of artists from across the globe, plus food, drink, art, film, yoga, comedy, podcasts and so much more. Treefort is seeking an intern to support programming for the 2025 season.
Storyfort Programming and Events Coordinating Internship
The Storyfort team is looking for inquisitive, dependable, motivated, self-starters who are looking to get a foot in the door of the writing and publishing world. Storyfort invites out some of the most exciting young voices in publishing during the festival and we want our interns to reflect that enthusiasm. An interest in publishing, readings—more specifically, what goes into making a fun and engaging live reading—is an absolute must in prospective interns.
Expectations:
Students will commit to a total of 40-50 hours during the course of spring semester, ending with the festival. Weekly commitment will be approximately 3 hours weekly depending on team needs and student schedule. Students will have bi-weekly check-ins with Treefort supervising staff and attend monthly team meetings. The majority of work will be performed using the students own computer and/or resources available to them through their academic program. Schedule is flexible but communication is key.
Duties:
Helping plan poetry/fiction/and non-fiction reading events where visiting writers present their work live. Interns will help develop the overall theme of the events, as well as help vet the work. These are readings where Authors will read live to fans of their work, so the Storyfort team will also need to craft questions and talking points to
make sure these events are as compelling as possible to the widest possible audience.
Interns will spearhead their OWN event to be held during Storyfort. This could be based on their developing interests over the planning period. They might decide they want to run a workshop or moderate a panel on publishing, they might decide to take a special interest in one of our out-of-town authors and want to specifically curate a reading around a single book or piece the author has written—the possibilities are limited only by the intern’s imagination.
Sitting in on meetings and compiling notes and tracking critical info that we can refer to in the lead-up to the fest.
Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship, however a full wristband to Treefort Music Fest is provided ($300 value) for March 26-30th, 2025. The 5-Day General Admission Pass covers all five days of Treefort Music Fest. This includes admission to all venues + Main Stage, as well as all fort programming, excluding dinners and other special ticketed events. 1-2 internship credits can be granted towards the student’s academic program (pending instructor approval). More credits available upon request with increase in internship hours.
Qualifications:
- Must know how to read for content and enjoy the art of language
- Must be ready to help fold some chairs come festival time
- Must be a self-starter who wants to spearhead their own projects for Storyfort
- Lastly, but most importantly: what we’re truly looking for is someone who is excited about being around the crop of talented writers we bring out. We want people who are fans of the written word and who could see themselves one day being a part of the industry, whether that be as an editor, publisher, writer or any part of the industry.
Instructions:
Please submit a resume and cover letter on Handshake or email to by January 17, 2025. In your cover letter, state why you’d be a good fit for this internship. Contact is Sam Berman at sberman@treefortmusicfest.com.
