Ashley publishes book on creative placemaking

Amanda Ashley, director of the School of the Arts, published her book “The Creative Economy: Arts, Cultural Value and Society in Practice” with the Taylor and Francis Group.

Ashley’s book explores the creative economy and the ways it permeates our everyday lives. It shapes where we live, what we buy and how we interact with others. The book analyzes key issues like capital, gentrification, pay disparities and the hegemonic confines of cultural production. It offers perspective for students, scholars, policymakers and the general public on the cultural and creative industries.

One of Ashley’s coauthors, Matilda “Tilley” Rose Bubb, graduated from Boise State in May with a doctorate in public administration and policy. Bubb works for the City of Boise as a cultural planner, implementing the city’s cultural master plan.
