Insurance Coverages

As a state agency, Boise State University’s primary insurance coverages are provided through the State of Idaho, Department of Administration, State Risk Management (State Risk) in compliance with statutes 67-5760, and 6-926 of the Idaho Tort Claims Act. State Risk is responsible for providing General Liability, Property, Auto, Bond and Crime, Aviation, Foreign Liability and Inland Marine Coverage as well as other coverage types. State Risk coverage consists of self-funded programs and policy placement with private insurance carriers.

Types of Insurance Coverage

Property Insurance

Coverage for loss or damage to owned or leased property of the insured or risks as indicated within the policy.

Casualty Insurance

Coverage for liability exposures to an insured based on negligence as risks indicated within the policy.

Auto Insurance

Provides both property and casualty coverage for automobiles and other trailed attachments, depending on their usage.

Additional insurance coverage

Boise State University is an institution with various and unique exposures that may require additional standalone coverage purchased through Boise State Risk Management with the permission of State Risk. All additional insurance coverage must be approved by State Risk and placed by Boise State Risk Management.

Why we ask for detailed information

To meet policy renewal requirements Boise State must provide detailed information regarding its assets, safety policies, employee classifications, claims, identified exposures and other information to secure and maintain continuing coverage.
