Hello! My name is Megan Koster and I’m the department chair here at Boise State University Department of Respiratory Care. As many of you know, we recently celebrated our 2023 Alumni and Friends event. If you weren’t able to join us, that’s okay, just know that we missed you and we hope to see you at a future event.
The goal of our Alumni and Friends event is to bring together our community and celebrate all that we have achieved together. The evening was a perfect opportunity for us to see old friends share a great meal and recognize some of our most outstanding go bronchi friends and family. We heard about the importance of scholarships from Abby Quigley, a third-year student preparing for graduation and entry into the profession. The department, with the generous help of alumni and friends like you, have been able to support many students realize their dreams of becoming a Bronco RT. If you’re ever interested in giving, head to our website for more information on how you can help tomorrow’s RTs today.
We could not do what we do without the amazing preceptors who spend time with our students in the clinical setting. These preceptors are the backbone of our entry-to-practice program and help set the tone for our students’ expectations of the workforce. The department then created an annual award to recognize these outstanding preceptors. This award is completely student-driven and we were so proud to acknowledge our first winner, Will Thomas. A huge thank you to all of our grow bronchi alumni and friends who have played a role in the development of our students across all three of our extraordinary programs. We so appreciate all that you do.
Finally, we were exceptionally proud to award the 2023 Merrick award for outstanding contribution to the Department of Respiratory Care to Dr Bill Dietrich. Dr Dietrich has served as our departmental medical director for nearly 20 years, pouring time, effort, and energy into our programs and our student successes. We’re extremely fortunate here at Boise State to have the degree of physician support that we do from our Go Bronchi community and we believe that it’s just one more thing that sets us apart. So again, thank you, thank you, thank you, for another amazing year here at Boise State University. We hope to see you at another go Bronchi event soon so keep in touch.
