Boise State announces a new master research agreement with Saint Alphonsus, which joins agreements already in place with St. Luke’s and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Some similarities among the agreements are that:
-
They facilitate research using identifiable and de-identified data from our healthcare partners;
-
Saint Alphonsus, St. Luke’s, and the VA can sponsor Boise State research awards/subawards and vice versa;
-
The parties can easily collaborate on unfunded research projects;
-
The agreements of Saint Alphonsus and St. Luke’s both have “Project Addendum” templates that simplify proposal and contracting processes.
The main advantage of the Saint Alphonsus agreement is that it expressly invokes the research exception in the HIPAA privacy rule, which allows Boise State researchers easier access to protected health information (but still with rigorous privacy and security protections for identifiable health records).
The great news is that Boise State has even more research options and partnership opportunities within our regional healthcare community. Please reach out to sponsoredagreements@boisestate.edu with any questions about these agreements.
