The NSF I-Corps program was developed to nurture a national innovation ecosystem built upon fundamental, use-inspired research. The program is designed to facilitate the development of technologies, products, processes, and services that benefit society.
I-Corps Program Dates
- Cohort 1 – Winter 2024: Jan. 12 to Feb. 9
- Cohort 2 – Winter 2024: Feb. 23 to Mar. 22
- Cohort 3 – Spring 2024: April 5 to May 3
- Cohort 4 – Spring 2024: May 17 to June 14
- Cohort 5 – Summer 2024: June 28 to Aug. 2
- Cohort 6 – Summer 2024: Aug. 16 to Sep. 13
- Cohort 7 – Fall 2024: Sep. 27 to Oct. 25
- Cohort 8 – Fall 2024: Nov. 8 to Dec. 13
Program Format and Date/Time Details
Each cohort is fully remote and consists of a one-hour Kick-Off Session plus four three-hour sessions on Fridays during the cohort dates.

- Hands-On Innovation: The NSF I-Corps regional training program provides a hands-on, high-impact, and fast-paced opportunity to learn how to commercialize your technology.
- Use-Inspired Research: With a focus on creating solutions that have a tangible impact on society, your use-inspired research will reach new heights. Through the I-Corps program, your innovations will be guided by a commitment to address real-world challenges and make a positive difference.
- Customer-Focused Discovery Process: Immerse yourself in a customer-focused discovery process aimed at gathering crucial insights to maximize the impact of your intellectual property. Conduct customer discovery interviews, study customer/stakeholder needs, and collect insights into their workflows.
- Financial Support: Teams that successfully complete the training may qualify for a small award of up to $3,000. Moreover, exceptional teams may be recommended to the National I-Corps Teams program, where they could qualify for an additional grant of $50,000.
