Summary
The Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students (SDS) program increases diversity in the health professions and nursing workforce by providing awards to eligible health professions schools for use in awarding scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have financial need. The program objectives are to (1) increase the number of graduates practicing in primary care; (2) increase retention of full-time students from disadvantaged backgrounds, including students who are members of racial and ethnic minority groups; and (3) increase the number of graduates working in medically underserved communities.

Award
Up to $650,000 annually for five (5) years.
Limited Submission Requirements and Timeline
One (1) application per health professions degree program. We encourage potential applicants to work within their degree programs to submit one application.
Notice of Interest Process. Only proposals approved by the Division of Research and Economic Development may be submitted to this program. For such approval, Principal Investigator (PI) must first submit a Notice of Interest to limitedsubmissions@boisestate.edu by 4 pm on January 12, 2025 . The Notice of Interest must indicate the PI and Co-PIs, the health professions degree program, and a brief, one paragraph description of the proposed project.

Key Submission Dates
- January 12, 2025 by 4 pm – Notice of Interests due to limitedsubmissions@boisestate.edu (we encourage you to cc your Dean for visibility as well)
- January 14, 2025, 2024 – Anticipated date applicants will be notified of approval
- February 12, 2025 – All final proposal documents due to OSP
- February 19, 2025 – Full proposal due to HRSA
