EPA Pollution Prevention Upcoming Opportunities

The EPA Pollution Prevention (P2) Program expects to announce two grant RFAs in the coming weeks. With the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, there will be increased funding available to implement pollution prevention projects. Pollution prevention (P2), also known as source reduction, is any practice that reduces, eliminates, or prevents pollution at its source prior to recycling, treatment, or disposal. The EPA expects the announcement of two grant RFAs that look very similar to the FY20-21 RFA, including the P2 Program National Emphasis Areas, with a few key differences:

  1. One RFA will require a 50% (dollar-for-dollar) cost match from the applicant. The federal funding cap will be ~$800K.
  2. The other RFA will have no match requirement. The federal funding cap will be ~$350K.

You can visit the EPA P2 Program website for summaries of past grant awards to get a sense of what projects have been funded in the past. Please feel free to reach out to, Kat Compton (compton.kathleen@epa.gov), if you have any questions or would like to discuss the P2 program in more detail prior to the release of the RFAs.
