Summary:
MW CTR-IN Program is soliciting for new pilot grant applications for two clinical or translational research funding opportunities. Below are the two funding opportunities.
Solicitation 1: Pilot grant (Single Principle Investigator)
Each institution may nominate up to four (4) applicants for the pilot projects focused on the programmatic priorities such as:
- Childhood obesity and metabolic conditions including diabetes and other related factors of food security, food sovereignty, and healthy food access.
- Opioid and other substance abuse, mental health / suicide prevention and psycho-social trauma.
- COVID-19, including impacts to healthcare access, associated influences on mental health, and disproportionate impacts to vulnerable populations.
Features of this funding are:
- The PI must:
- Have faculty-level appointment with a minimum of 0.5 FTE support at a participating CTR-IN Institution
- Devote at least 20% effort
- Prior CTR-IN awardees are eligible to apply
- An awardee may not concurrently receive funding for their research program through other IDeA mechanisms
- Its advised to work with Laura Bond, CTR-IN Biostatistician
- 11 month award
Award
$60,000 Direct Costs + 10% F&A

Solicitation 2: Multi-site Pilot Projects (Multiple PI)
Each institution may nominate up to one (1) applicant as Lead PI for a multi-site CTR-IN Pilot Project. The expectation is that the project will yield key preliminary data and capacity building to facilitate a large-scale multi-site extramural grant application or other extramural grant funding opportunities with programmatic priorities such as:
- Childhood obesity and metabolic conditions including diabetes and other related factors of food security, food sovereignty, and healthy food access.
- Opioid and other substance abuse, mental health / suicide prevention and psycho-social trauma.
- COVID-19, including impacts to healthcare access, associated influences on mental health, and disproportionate impacts to vulnerable populations.
Features of this funding are:
- Prior CTR-IN awardees are eligible to apply
- An awardee may not concurrently receive funding for their research program through other IDeA mechanisms Collaborative research to occur at least three partner institutions.>/li>
- Its advised to work with Laura Bond, CTR-IN Biostatistician
- 11 month award
Award
$90,000 – $150,000 Direct Costs for all sites combined + 10% F&A
