From Nuclear Science User Facilities-
Survey Request: Nuclear Energy-Related Material Needs
In addition to providing researchers with no cost access to unique facilities and materials through competitive proposal processes, the Nuclear Science User Facilities (NSUF) operates the Nuclear Fuels and Materials Library (NFML), a collection of nuclear fuel and material specimens from past and ongoing irradiation test campaigns as well as real-world components retrieved from decommissioned power reactors, and donations from other sources.
The Department of Energy – Office of Nuclear Energy (DOE-NE), through NSUF, requests your input in a short survey regarding future needs for nuclear energy-related material to support research to address ongoing nuclear energy challenges as well as future advancements in nuclear energy.
Suggestions submitted here will help the NSUF identify gaps in research materials available in the NFML as well as identify research trends to determine what fuels and materials should be considered for future the NFML specimen irradiation campaigns.
As an important note, this is not a proposal to access or irradiate material, but rather an informal request for information. If you have any questions about this survey, please contact kelly.cunningham@inl.gov.
