Assessment and Evaluation for Principal Investigators Workshop

In today’s competitive grant landscape, a well-designed assessment and evaluation plan is critical to securing extramural funding. This workshop will guide attendees through the key factors and best practices for developing effective assessment and evaluation plans in grant proposals. Through a comprehensive overview of important considerations in assessment and evaluation design, along with insights from an expert panel sharing their experiences in crafting successful evaluations, you will gain a deeper understanding of how to create a well-structured approach to assess and evaluate the impact of your project. Additionally, this workshop will equip you with tools and resources needed to help develop robust assessment and evaluation plans that meet funder expectations and ensure the successful execution of your project.

TRANSFORM Seed Translational Research Project Grants

The TRANSFORM project, a four-year, $6 million National Science Foundation Accelerating Research Translation funded program, will be awarding four Seed Translational Research Projects (STRPs) this year. The goal of STRPs is to increase the scale and pace of advancing discoveries made while conducting academic research into tangible solutions that benefit the public. The investments will be made in two tracks:

Track 1: The market-oriented track will support research projects that are oriented toward commercialization and traditional technology transfer work.

Track 2: The community-engaged track will support Boise State researchers to engage with external organizations to co-produce projects that advance new knowledge and also have societal impact.

Amount

There are two funding levels for each track:
Proof of Concept – up to $50,000 for a 12 month duration
Scaling-Up – up to $150,000 for a 24 month duration

Dates

Proposals are due by 5:00 PM on May 15, 2025.

For faculty interested in applying for a TRANSFORM seed grant, there will be virtual information sessions on the following days (Zoom link provided once registered):

  • March 11th, 2025 9:00-10:00am
  • April 3rd, 2025 11:00am-12:00pm
  • April 9th, 2025 2:00-3:00pm

Introduction and Overview of SBIR/STTR Funding Agencies

Elevate Idaho invites you to their next Monthly Lunch & Learn Series for an insightful session as they provide an introduction and overview of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) funding agencies and the structure of their solicitations. This is a great opportunity to gain insight into the SBIR/STTR process and learn how to align agency needs with your core competencies.
