Summary
The mission of The G. Harold and Leila Y. Mathers Foundation (“Foundation”) is to advance knowledge in the life sciences by sponsoring scientific research that will benefit mankind. Basic scientific research, with potential translational application, is central to this goal, and fundamental to our operating principles. Examples of current research areas supported include immunology, microbiome, structural biology, cellular physiology, cancer biology, genetics, genomics, microbiology and infectious diseases, stem cell biology, and neuroscience. The Foundation does not support research conducted in human subjects and will not fund requests for clinical trials or drug discovery.

Award
$700,000 for three (3) years.
Limited Submission Requirements and Timeline
Three (3) Letters of Intent (LOI) per institution per grant cycle.
Notice of Interest Process. Only LOIs approved by the Division of Research and Economic Development may be submitted to this program. For such approval, Principal Investigator (PI) must first submit a Notice of Interest to limitedsubmissions@boisestate.edu by 4 pm on Decemeber 18, 2024. The Notice of Interest must indicate the PI and Co-PIs, collaborator names and affiliations, and a brief, one paragraph description of the proposed project.
**If necessary, a further white paper round may be required**
Key Submission Dates
- December 18, 2024 by 4 pm – Notice of Interest due to limitedsubmissions@boisestate.edu (we encourage you to cc your Dean for visibility as well)
- December 20, 2024 – Anticipated date applicants will be notified of approval
- February 28, 2025 – Institution Nominations and Portal Registration due to Mathers Foundation
- March 3, 2025 – Preliminary budget due to OSP
- March 7, 2025 – LOI documents due to OSP
- March 14, 2025 – LOI due to Mathers Foundation
- May 16, 2025 – All final proposal documents due to OSP
- May 23, 2025 – Full proposal due to Mathers Foundation
Important Notes on Sponsor Requirements
- Only one application per investigator per cycle is allowed.
