The G. Harold and Leila Y. Mathers Foundation
Summary
The mission of the G. Harold and Leila Y. Mathers Foundation (“Foundation”) is to advance knowledge in the life sciences by sponsoring scientific research that will benefit mankind. Basic scientific research, with potential translational application, is central to this goal and fundamental to their operating principles. Examples of current research areas supported include immunology, microbiome, structural biology, cellular physiology, cancer biology, genetics, genomics, microbiology and infectious diseases, stem cell biology, and neuroscience. The Foundation does not support research conducted in human subjects and will not fund requests for clinical trials or drug discovery.

Award
$700,000 for three (3) years.
Limited Submission Requirements and Timeline
Three (3) Letters of Intent (LOI) per institution per grant cycle.
Only LOIs approved by the Division of Research and Economic Development may be submitted to this program. For such approval, Principal Investigators must first submit a Notice of Interest to limitedsubmissions@boisestate.edu by 4 pm on August 9, 2024.
**If necessary, a further white paper round may be required**
Key Submission Dates
- August 9, 2024 by 4 pm – White papers due to limitedsubmissions@boisestate.edu (we encourage you to cc your Dean for visibility as well)
- August 14, 2024 – Anticipated date applicants will be notified of approval
- September 20, 2024 – Institution Nominations and Portal Registration due to Mathers Foundation
- September 20, 2024 – Preliminary budget due to OSP
- September 27, 2024 – LOI documents due to OSP
- October 4, 2024 – LOI due to Mathers Foundation
- November 27, 2024 – All final proposal documents due to OSP
- December 6, 2024 – Full proposal due to Mathers Foundation
Important Notes on Sponsor Requirements
- Only one application per investigator per cycle is allowed.
