Underused EPSCoR Mechanisms: The Planning Grant, The Conference, The Workshop
The Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) of the National Science Foundation (NSF) supports many funding opportunities beyond the traditional research awards. These include workshop and planning grants, supplemental awards for existing awards, Dear Colleague Letters, and more. Many of these opportunities are designed to lead to the development of a competitive research proposal or research network. The objective of this workshop, hosted by the Center for Research and Creative Activity, is to introduce you to these opportunities and give you a chance to discuss them as a group and explore potential targets, collaborations, and new partnerships.

How to Pursue Funding to Support Your Research
The Institutional Development Awards (IDeA) Programs Office at Boise State University and Academic Research Funding Strategies, LLC are hosting a virtual grantsmanship workshop, open to the broader research community with some time geared towards the biomedical, behavioral, and social sciences. The session will cover articulating your research agenda, understanding funding agencies, identifying and analyzing funding opportunities (including those for IDeA States), recruiting mentors and collaborations, positioning, developing a project plan, and identifying and talking to your program officer. The second part of the day will focus on the nitty gritty of writing your proposal, stepping through typical sections and discussing what each should accomplish and mistakes to avoid, the review process, and how to interpret and respond to reviews. Attendees will participate in a number of exercises during the workshop sessions, including identifying their program officer, mock discussion with their program officer, and participating in a mock review panel.
Registration is required and closes Friday, April 19, 2024.
