Summary:
The research supported by BioFoundries may follow from the work supported by previous or existing NSF programs, or it could represent an entirely new direction. A key feature of the BioFoundries should be the deep integration of advanced discovery, technological innovation, knowledge sharing, and collaborations to open new avenues for translating results from basic research to societally beneficial outcomes. Award:
$15,000,000 to $24,000,000 over 6 years, funding will be provided yearly.
Limited Submission Requirements and Timeline:
One (1) application as lead institution is permitted.
Only proposals approved by the Division of Research and Economic Development may be submitted to this program. For such approval, Principal Investigators (PIs) must first submit an email indicating interest to preaward@boisestate.edu by 1 PM on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. An additional white paper round may be conducted if necessary.
If selected to submit a full proposal, PIs must ensure that proposals meet all requirements stated in the RFP, in the announcement, and in the implementing laws and regulations related to this grant program.
Key Submission Dates:
- June 28, 2023, by 1 PM – Email indicating interest due to preaward@boisestate.edu. We encourage you to cc your Dean for visibility as well.
- August 1, 2023 – Letter of Intent due to NSF
-  September 25, 2023 – Full proposal due to OSP
-  October 2, 2023 – Full proposal due to NSF
Important Note on Requirements:
Limit on Number of Proposals per PI or co-PI:
Individuals may appear as Senior Personnel (Principal Investigator/Project Director, co-PI, and other faculty or equivalent with biographical sketches included in the proposal even though their names may not be listed on the proposal Cover Sheet) on only one (1) proposal.
