Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR)
NSF EPSCoR seeks to expand opportunities for diverse faculty, staff, and student populations through a geographic approach focused on strengthening research capabilities and competitiveness. Different perspectives, skill sets, and visions are needed for the U.S. to remain at the forefront of innovation and discovery.
NSF’s Committee on Equal Opportunities in Science and Engineering (CEOSE) established a subcommittee to conduct a visioning activity for the future of NSF EPSCoR. The subcommittee was charged to address two questions:
- What does the available evidence tell us about the effectiveness of NSF EPSCoR’s current investment strategies (both individually and collectively) in advancing scalable, jurisdiction-wide solutions and best practices to achieve the program’s goals?
- Based on the answers to the above, are there novel strategies or changes to the current strategies that would enable NSF EPSCoR and its jurisdictional partners to achieve its mission more effectively?
CEOSE has released the report: Envisioning the Future of NSF EPSCoR.  A two-page summary provides an overview of the report and the eight recommendations to inform the future of NSF EPSCoR. A video highlighting the outcomes of the visioning process and NSF’s continued dedication to creating and supporting ongoing and new NSF opportunities for EPSCoR jurisdictions is also available.
